Half, Full and Ultra Marathons
The Connemara International Marathon is one of the world’s most scenic events, set in the stunning landscape of the West of Ireland. 2019 will mark the Connemarathon’s eighteenth year. Runners and walkers travel from all over the world to take part in the Connemarathon. It’s well worth it — all participants get to experience some of Ireland’s most breath-taking scenery along the way.
The event is comprised of:
- Half marathon
- Full marathon
- Ultra (39.3 mile) marathon
International participants enjoy a warm Irish welcome along with the sense of comradeship on the route and the unmistakable buzz of the day. No other sporting event gives people such a taste of the stunning Irish Wild Atlantic Way
The three race distances (half, full and ultra) start in different places and all finish in Maam Cross (Peacockes Hotel). The ultra starts approx. 1 mile from Maam Cross, the full starts at Lough Inagh and the half starts in Leenane. It is not possible to park at the start areas and buses are provided to bring all participants to the start lines. The buses leave from Galway, Oughterard and Clifden and return to these locations after the race.
